Dry Stout

Styles | Products
The Dry Stout is a very dark, roast and creamy ale. Dry Stouts (also known as Irish Stouts) were originally relatively strong, high gravity beers but today, the Dry Stout is the lightest of the Stout family and rarely attains an alcohol by volume (abv) of over 5%. The most well known example of this style is Guinness Draught.

The Dry Stout was originally an attempt to capitalize on the popularity of the Porter, which was very popular in England in the 19th century. The Dry Stout was originally stronger than a Porter, though that is rarely the case today.
