Beer is one of several alcoholic beverages but is distinct from other alcoholic beverages by being made from fermented grain (wine is fermented grape juice and liquor is usually distilled alcohol based on either grain or fruit). The grain most commonly used to make beer is malted barley, though other grains like wheat, rye, sorghum and others can be used.
Other primary ingredients in beer are usually hops, yeast and water. Some beers make use of seasonings and flavorings that can include all ranges of spices, fruits or vegetables.
