Style: Belgian Pale Ales
The Belgian Pale Ale is somewhat related to the English beers also known as Pale Ales. The British use of hops and specific yeast strains gained much favor in Belgium for this style, particularly after World War II.
The Belgian Pale is a session beer, meaning that it is not very high in alchohol, measuring in around 5.5% at the highest. While the term "pale" implies a golden or light amber color, some examples are distinctly medium dark in color yet are still known as "pale" beers when compared to very dark examples such as Dubbels.
Belgian Pale Ales should never be overwhelming in any sense of the word where either flavor or alcohol is concerned. Moderation in all aspects is the key to a great Belgian Pale Ale and while delicious, the moderate fruity or malty aspects of a Belgian Pale should remain balanced with the rest of the beer.- Browse Belgian Pale Ales
